Police are investigating the case of a Russian man who died aboard a flight en route to Toronto on Wednesday. Investigators have talked to about 200 passengers who travelled on the Aeroflot flight from Moscow, some of whom described the man, believed to be in his 40s, as heavily drunk.

"[Passengers say] it was not just some alcohol, it was copious amounts of alcohol, that the passenger who died was rowdy and drunk, and passengers seated in seats next to him were trying to keep him in his seat and from bothering other passengers,” the CBC's Nil Koksal reported from Toronto's Pearson International Airport, where the flight landed around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police will only say that some alcohol was involved, but are treating the death as suspicious, according to a report in the Globe and Mail.

Passengers interviewed by the newspaper said that several people on the plane were drinking alcohol from the bottle.

"The guy was really drunk and annoying people," said Mike, 34, who did not give his last name.

Attendants later moved the man away to a separate location from where he was sitting toward the business-class area of the plane, police told CBC News. A passenger reportedly saw him lie down and turn blue.

A coroner is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
