Team Obama's memo: Maybe Hillary should cool it with the "experience" bragging by Marni Soupcoff Link to ArticleThe Hillary Clinton camp has argued over and over (and over) again that Clinton has a huge advantage over Obama because he has so little experience and she has so much. Well, if you believe this memo (via the Real Clear Politics blog) from the former director of the Policy Planning Office of the U.S. State Department, Clinton is greatly exaggerating her past role in foreign policy. It's worth reading the whole thing, but the highlights include:— As part of her rather laughable boast that she helped bring peace to Northern Ireland, Clinton claims to have attended an important meeting at the Belfast town hall. In fact, "Her only appearance at the Belfast City Hall was to see Christmas lights turned on." — Clinton has characterized a March 1996 trip to Bosnia as a dangerous mission in a war zone, but it sounds like the trip was really more like a warped episode of Starsearch abroad. "On March 26, 1996, the New York Times reported that 'Hillary Rodham Clinton charmed American troops at a U.S.O. show here, but it didn't hurt that the singer Sheryl Crow and the comedian Sinbad were also on the stage.'" — Clinton says, "I negotiated open borders to let fleeing refugees into safety from Kosovo," but she didn't travel to Macedonia until the day after the borders were opened.
