Vets Move to Bolster Support for Kerry by CapitalHillBlue.com Link to ArticleVeterans who support John Kerry's presidential bid gathered Monday to discuss strategies for getting out the message on the Massachusetts senator.Doug Clifford, a coordinator for the Dog Hunters, a group of Vietnam veterans that has supported Kerry since the 1980s, said New England veterans have begun planning for the remaining months of the campaign. In addition to organizing phone banks, he said the veterans will participate in Kerry events in New Hampshire next month. Clifford said the veterans hope to direct attention to the many issues still to be addressed by the campaigns. In recent days much of the focus of the race has been on television ad jousting over Kerry's military record.``We're getting off the real issue of this campaign. There's serious issues facing America: unemployment, the war in the Middle East, the economy, health care,'' he said. ``Those of the things people should be talking about.''
