O'Reilly in 2006: 'If I could get my hands on Tiller, well, you know'
by Stephen C. Webster
And a huge, sparkling gold star goes to Media Matters, which hit the Bill O'Reilly audio archives and comes back with this real hateful little gem of the extremist, right-wing suggestive thinking aimed squarely at George Tiller, the doctor who was assassinated on Sunday by a man reportedly involved with extremist, right-wing groups.
Nevada legalizing domestic partnerships
by CNN
(CNN) -- Nevada is legalizing domestic partnerships, with the state Assembly voting Sunday evening to override a veto by the governor, officials said. The Assembly voted 28-14 to override Gov. Jim Gibbons' veto of a domestic partner bill, said Kathy Alden of the chief clerk's office.
How I Witnessed Sarah Palin's Fuming Anti-Abortion Fanatics
by Linda Milazzo
The following is an excerpt of an article I published after attending a Sarah Palin rally in Southern California where I witnessed reinvigorated anti-abortion fanatics spurred on by Palin's inflammatory rhetoric. At that time, as evidenced by the text of my earlier article (below), it was clear to me that a similar threat of domestic terrorism to that inflicted on this nation by convicted anti-abortion murderer Eric Rudolph, was probable and undeterred by Sarah Palin -- the latest charismatic leader in the anti-abortion movement.

Fifteen years ago, the Federal Bureau of Investigation discovered a 'hit list' circulating among militant anti-abortion activists. On Sunday morning, in the lobby of the Reformation Lutheran church in Wichita, Dr. Tiller, an usher who was welcoming people to the house of worship, was shot by a gunman who then fled the scene.
Book Expo 2009: Tracy Kidder, Craig Ferguson, Ben something-or-other & Jeanette Walls
by Jane Stillwater
I wasn't going to go to the Book Expo in New York City this year because I didn't have the money, but I found a free airline ticket by accident, got a room at a youth hostel and here I am. Staying in a youth hostel is weird -- imagine five sets of bunk beds stuffed into in a very small room. Imagine the Berkeley Homeless Shelter -- only occupied by college kids instead of shopping-cart pushers -- and you pretty much have the idea. It took me forever to fall asleep last night because people kept coming in and going out and flushing the toilet and turning on and off the light. But, fortunately, nobody snored.
Multiculturalism is For Sale: A Photo Journal of What We're Buying
by Mikhail Lyubansky
On the surface, multiculturalism seems a little like apple pie: It’s American and seemingly everyone wants a piece. No wonder, then, that corporations are trying to sell it to us, one slice at a time. This past winter holiday, my wife and I took our young kids (ages 2 and 6) to Disney. We brought the grandparents along too and took turns taking the kids to the theme parks and going off by ourselves. It was our first time there since we were kids ourselves. Turns out, this wasn’t our fathers’ Disney World. In every park, in almost every corner, multiculturalism was for sale – sometimes as the featured attraction. Why bother with intercontinental travel? In the Animal Kingdom, the African Safari is just a short walk away.
Obama must stop in Gaza in order to remain credible
by Aimee Kligman
There is nothing to replace the 'show me' paradigm. And President Obama ought to know a thing or two about seeing is believing. Take the situation of his reversing a previous decision to show photos of torture that had remained classified under the Bush administration; prior to having set his eyes on said photos, the President was adamant that there be transparency in our government, even if it meant that we had to face the unpleasant and the uncomfortable.
